I am professor of philosophy at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon. I received my B.A. in Philosophy from Reed College (1992) and my Ph.D in Philosophy from the University of California, Riverside (2002). My areas of specialization are in Social and Political Philosophy (focusing on democratic theory, social movements, and peace and nonviolence studies), Philosophy of the Americas (North and Latin), and issues in multiculturalism,immigration, and decolonization. I am also interested in theories of anarchism and utopian/dystopian political thought (particularly in science fiction, such at Star Trek).
